Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological period that requires special attention to the health of both the mother and the fetus. One important aspect of monitoring the health of pregnant women is proper weight management. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the knowledge level of pregnant women regarding weight management and their actual weight status during antenatal care. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research type and a cross-sectional design. The research location is at Independent Midwifery Practices (BPM) in Padang Panjang City in 2025. The research will be conducted from July to September 2025. The population in this study consisted of 40 respondents selected thru total sampling. The data analysis used is the Chi-square test. The research results show that the majority of pregnant women, 28 people (41.2%) and 28 people (41.2%), have a low level of knowledge, totaling 12 people (17.6%). Furthermore, the majority of pregnant women have a healthy weight, totaling 40 people (58.8%), followed by overweight individuals (16 people, 23.5%) and underweight individuals (12 people, 17.6%). Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between the knowledge level of pregnant women and their actual weight status during antenatal care examinations, with p = 0.01. Therefore, it can be concluded that mothers with a high level of knowledge are more likely to have a healthy weight status compared to mothers with low knowledge
