Exclusive breastfeeding is an effort that can be made to help mothers achieve breastfeeding success.
The lack of information that mothers have regarding exclusive breastfeeding can affect the level of
confidence of breastfeeding mothers in their ability to provide breast milk for their babies. This
research was conducted to determine the effect of using video media on knowledge and breastfeeding
self-efficacy. This research method is quantitative. This research uses a quasi-experimental design with
a one group pretest posttest research design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The total
sample was 33 postpartum mothers from day 7 to day 42. This research instrument uses a questionnaire
with 15 question items for knowledge and 14 questions for Breastfeeding Self Efficacy. Data
management and analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon signed test. The results of the univariate
analysis showed that the average knowledge of mothers before being given the video was 7.61% and
after being given the video increased to 10.18%. The research results also showed that the average
breastfeeding self-efficacy before being given the video was 54.82% and after being given the video it
increased by 58.97%. The results of bivariate analysis show that video media has an effect in increasing
maternal knowledge and breastfeeding self-efficacy regarding exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.000). The
conclusion of this research is that there is an influence of video media on increasing maternal
knowledge and breastfeeding self-efficacy regarding exclusive breastfeeding. It is hoped that health
workers will use video educational media as an effort to increase knowledge and breastfeeding self-
efficacy regarding exclusive breastfeeding, as well as develop other educational media.
