Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women can have serious impacts on the health of both the mother and the baby. This condition increases the risk of anemia, premature birth, and low birth weight, which can affect the child's long-term development. Education on the prevention of KEK is very important to raise awareness and knowledge among pregnant women about the importance of nutritional intake. The research was conducted in Jorong Subarang Nagari Singgalang, Tanah Datar Regency, involving counseling for 20 pregnant women. This activity used leaflets as a supporting medium, containing information about nutritious foods, how to calculate calorie needs, and tips for maintaining a healthy diet. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge about KEK. Before the counseling, many mothers were unaware of the signs and consequences of KEK. After participating in the activities, the participants were able to explain the importance of balanced nutrition and the preventive measures that can be taken. This activity is expected to serve as a model for other health programs, with the aim of reducing the incidence of KEK and improving the health of mothers and babies. Continuous education will help create a healthier generation that is aware of the importance of nutrition during pregnancy
