Abstract

The third trimester of pregnancy involves significant physiological changes, requiring promotive and preventive education to minimize maternal complications. This activity aimed to enhance pregnant women’s understanding of third-trimester physiological adaptations and appropriate preventive measures through structured health counseling. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, involving 20 pregnant women at BPM Erna Wena, Padang Panjang City, using total sampling. The counseling delivered core topics regarding physiological changes, nutritional adequacy, antenatal care, and recognition of danger signs. The results showed that all participants demonstrated good comprehension of the material and active engagement during discussions, indicating improved maternal health literacy. Two-way communication during the educational session supported better preparedness for physiological and psychological changes in late pregnancy. This program reinforces the role of maternal education as an integral component of primary midwifery services.
