Nagari Batu Taba is an area with mountainous geographical characteristics and high rainfall, making it prone to natural disasters
such as flash floods. Fort De Kock University Bukittinggi, through its Thematic Community Service Program, places students in Nagari Batu Taba, Ampek Angkek District, Agam Regency from August 5 to September 14. The activities conducted include data collection, mapping, socialization, creating evacuation routes, forming Disaster Alert Groups, and conducting evacuation simulations. All these activities aim to enhance community awareness, skills, and preparedness in facing disasters, particularly flash floods that frequently hit Nagari Batu Taba. This program is implemented due to the low level of community knowledge regarding disaster mitigation, the absence of clear evacuation routes, and the lack of coordination and readiness of local communities in disaster situations. This activity successfully increased the awareness and skills of the Batu Taba community in facing flash floods, while also demonstrating that collaboration between students, local government, and the community can yield significant positive impacts.
