DETERMINAN SOSIAL DAN AKTIVITAS FISIK PADA PELAJAR SMP DAN SMA DI DAERAH PERKOTAAN DI INDONESIA

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed behavior and lifestyle, including increasing sedentary behavior in
various populations, including teenagers. Inadequate physical activity is a risk factor for the development
of obesity and degenerative diseases. The aim of this research is to look at the social determinants and
physical activity of teenagers in the city of Bukittinggi and analyze whether activity is related to sedentary
behavior and gender. Method: This study was conducted through observation and interviews using a cross
sectional design. The sample consisted of middle and high school students in the city of Bukittinggi, West
Sumatra, aged 15 - 18 years, totaling 118 respondents. Sampling was carried out using a multistage
stratified cluster sampling technique. The data collected in this study were gender, age, ethnicity, religion,
parents' income, parents' education and occupation, and physical activity carried out during the last 7
days. Data were processed using SPSS 25.0 with t- test method with a confidence level of p<0.05. Results:
There were 56.8% of respondents doing light and moderate physical activity and female respondents
showed more sedentary behavior than male respondents. (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study
show sedentary behavior among teenagers, especially female teenagers
