General Requirements for Manuscript Writing
The authors’ guidelines for manuscript preparation are described as follows:
-
Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English using single-line spacing, Times New Roman font size 12, A4 paper size, two-column format, and custom margin settings (top 2.54 cm; left 2.8 cm; bottom 2.54 cm; right 2.54 cm).
-
The scientific manuscript should contain approximately 6000–9000 words, or around 10–15 pages, including figures, graphs, or tables (if any).
-
Foreign terms or local terminology within the text must be written in italics.
-
A literature review section is not included as a structural component of the article. Citations deemed necessary should be integrated into the Introduction or Discussion sections. Citations in the Discussion should be limited and focused mainly on interpreting the author’s own research findings.
-
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal website at ojs.ufdk.ac.id after the author completes the registration and login process. Manuscripts submitted outside the official website cannot be processed by the OJS system.
-
Submitted manuscripts will be screened by the system and forwarded to reviewers (peer reviewers) according to their field of expertise.
-
Manuscripts reviewed by peer reviewers will be returned to the author if revisions are required. Authors must revise according to the reviewers’ comments and resubmit the revised manuscript.
-
After revision, the manuscript will undergo further review by the reviewers. If deemed acceptable, the manuscript will be published online. If additional revisions are required, the manuscript will be returned again to the author.
Scientific Article Structure
In general, the structure of an empirical research article and a conceptual research article is relatively similar.
Empirical research articles consist of 10 main sections:
-
Title
-
Authorship lines
-
Abstract
-
Keywords
-
Introduction
-
Methods
-
Results and Discussion
-
Conclusion
-
Acknowledgments
-
References
Conceptual research articles contain 9 main sections, excluding the Methods section.
Further explanations for each component are provided below.
(THE MANUSCRIPT TEMPLATE CAN BE DOWNLOADED HERE).
a) Title
-
The title should be concise and informative, containing no more than 12 words, including conjunctions.
-
Include keywords relevant to the topic investigated.
-

-
Written in Indonesian or English according to the manuscript’s language.
-
Avoid abbreviations, formulas, and citations.
b) Authorship Lines
-
Authors’ institutional affiliations should reflect their workplace or research institution.
-
Only individuals who contributed significantly to the planning, execution, data analysis, discussion, and writing of the manuscript should be listed as authors.
-
Academic degrees or professional titles should not be included.
-
Institutional names should be written completely, including the country, followed by mailing address, email, and fax (if any) for correspondence purposes.
-
If authors come from multiple institutions, use lowercase superscript letters (a, b, c, …) after each author’s name.
-
The corresponding author is marked with an asterisk (*).
-
Author names must be written in Times New Roman 12, Bold, and not abbreviated.
c) Abstract
-
The abstract should be concise and factual, including key issues, major findings, novelty, recommendations, research methods, results, and conclusion.
-
Written in a single paragraph, in two languages (Indonesian and English).
-
The abstract should not exceed 200 words.
-
Avoid citations and uncommon abbreviations.
d) Keywords

e) Introduction
-
Avoid subheadings within the introduction.
-
The introduction must include background, research problems, and objectives.
-
The introduction should constitute 10–15% of the total manuscript length.
-
Citations must include the author’s surname and year of publication, without page numbers.
-
Theoretical foundations should be expressed clearly, concisely, and relevantly.
f) Research Methods
-
Provide a concise description of materials and methods used, including subjects, tools, experimental design, sampling techniques, variables measured, data collection techniques, analysis, and statistical models.
-
Avoid excessive use of statistical formulas.
-
For well-known methods, mention the method name and include citations if necessary.
-
For qualitative research, methods may be adjusted accordingly.
g) Results and Discussion
-
Results and discussion are not separated due to page limitations.
-
Results may be presented with supporting tables, graphs, or figures where necessary.
-
Table titles should appear above the table; figure captions below the figure.
-
Avoid repeating numerical data already presented in tables.
-
Avoid statistical terminology in discussions (e.g., “significantly different,” “treatment,” etc.).
-
Avoid copying and pasting statistical output directly from analysis software.
-
The discussion should focus on whether the findings align with the hypothesis and provide supporting arguments.
-
Paraphrase citations in your own words; avoid quoting long text verbatim.
-
Related studies may be cited collectively.
h) Conclusion
-
The conclusion should directly answer the research questions.
-
Written as a single paragraph, essay-style, not in numerical form.
i) Acknowledgments
-
Usually placed after the conclusion.
-
Includes appreciation to funding bodies, institutions, or individuals assisting in the study or manuscript preparation.
