Abstract

The practice of mural art at Universitas Fort De Kock (UFDK) is motivated by the need to create a learning environment that is more inspiring, communicative, and effective in strengthening institutional identity. This study aims to analyze campus mural artworks as an integrative medium between visual design, creative governance, and the psychological responses of the academic community. The research method employs a practice-based research approach through contextual observation, visual design based on semiotics, collaborative mural execution, and reflective evaluation using questionnaires and interviews. The analysis focuses on three main aspects: (1) design integration emphasizing visual hierarchy, color exploration, and narrative strength; (2) creative governance involving student participation, cross-program coordination, and material sustainability; and (3) psychological responses measured through aesthetic perception, sense of belonging, and increased learning motivation. The findings indicate that UFDK campus murals function not only as visual artworks but also as pedagogical instruments that reinforce institutional identity, enhance student engagement, and foster a more humanistic campus atmosphere. This study affirms that the integration of design and creative governance can generate positive psychological impacts while offering a replicable model of campus mural implementation relevant to the development of higher education in Indonesia.
