Abstract

Elementary school-aged children are vulnerable to accidents such as minor injuries due to high physical activity. However, most of them do not understand First Aid (P3K) procedures. The prevalence of injuries in children aged 5–14 years old reached 12.1%. The lack of education and learning media that are appropriate to children's characteristics is an obstacle to increasing P3K literacy from an early age. Pop-Up Book media is considered effective because it is visual, interactive, and appropriate to the child's concrete operational development stage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of First Aid Education in Accidents using Pop-Up Book media on increasing the knowledge of fifth-grade students at SDN 27 Olo Ladang. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The study was conducted from April to September 2025. A sample of 19 students was taken using a total sampling technique. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the study before education, 100% of students were in the poor knowledge category. After being given education using pop-up book media, 68.4% of students were in the sufficient category and 31.6% were in the good category. The results of the Wilcoxon test p = 0.001 (p <0.05), there was a significant effect of providing education on increasing students' knowledge of first aid. In conclusion, education using pop-up book media has been proven effective in increasing students' knowledge of first aid. It is recommended that schools use creative learning media such as pop-up books in delivering first aid material, integrating it into thematic and extracurricular learning activities.
