In adolescents, anemia can lead to decreased concentration, fatigue, drowsiness, and reduced
endurance. Hemoglobin levels are influenced by factors such as the adequacy of iron, protein intake,
and gender. Insufficient protein consumption in the daily diet can result in inadequate nutrition for the
body. Protein is an essential component of hemoglobin and plays a crucial role in transporting oxygen
and nutrients. The purpose of this study was to assess the hemoglobin levels of boarding school students
in Bengkulu City. A descriptive research design was used to examine hemoglobin levels, protein
consumption habits, gender, and age among these students. The sample consisted of 37 subjects selected
through random sampling. Hemoglobin levels were measured in the laboratory at Poltekkes Kemenkes
Bengkulu and analyzed descriptively. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that 51.4% of the
subjects were male and 48.6% were female. The average age was 17.2 years, with an age range of 15
to 21 years. Regarding protein consumption, 81.1% of the subjects consumed protein more than five
times per week, while 18.9% consumed it 1-3 times per week. As for hemoglobin levels, 62.2% of the
subjects had normal levels, while 37.8% had abnormal levels. Despite most subjects (81.1%) consuming
protein frequently (>5 times per week), nearly 38% exhibited abnormal hemoglobin levels. It is
recommended to pay closer attention to the adequacy of protein intake in their diet
