The metabolic disease known as type 2 diabetes mellitus is brought on by a reduction in the amount of
insulin produced by the pancreatic ?-cells, which alters how insulin functions to absorb glucose.
Although there is no cure for diabetes mellitus, it can be controlled or managed with self-management.
The ability to practice self-care was hampered during the COVID-19 outbreak. Patients with type 2
diabetes are influenced by their level of diabetes awareness when it comes to self-management. With a
cross-sectional methodology and a correlational design, this study includes 88 patients in its sample.
Every patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus is the study's population. The sampling method employed in
this study is a non-probability sampling method that uses successive sampling. The study was carried out.
At Agam Regency's IV Koto Health Center, the study was carried out. The DKQ-24 (Diabetes Knowledge
Questionnaire) and the SDSCA Questionnaire were the tools utilized in the research. Type 2 DM patients'
self-management and knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic did not correlate, according to the
analysis's findings. This study has implications for the meaning of excellent self-management, as patients
with higher education levels likely to have better self-management than patients with type 2 diabetes
mellitus who have only a basic education. offering recommendations for upcoming studies that look into
knowledge at the same educational level
