Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a disease that is
one of the serious problems in the world. The incidence of HIV in Indonesia in 2020 was 543,100 people
with the number of new infections of 29,557 people and deaths of 30,137 people. in Lampung Province
there were 589 cases in Blambangan District as many as 20 cases. There are several ways to lower the
prevalence of HIV, and one of them is raising awareness through HIV counseling.. The counseling
media that can be used are educational videos. The purpose of the study was to determine the
effectiveness of counseling media using videos on adolescent knowledge about HIV/AIDS. This type of
research is quantitative with a pre-experimental design research design with a one group pretest and
post-test design approach. The population of all students at SMPN 1 Blambangan class VII with a
sample used of 54 respondents using the total sampling technique. Data collection using observation
sheets. Univariate and bivariate analysis (t-test). The results of the study showed that the average
knowledge of adolescents about HIV/AIDS before the intervention was 6.2 and after the intervention
was 10.07. There was an influence of the effectiveness of counseling media using videos on adolescents'
knowledge about HIV/AIDS (p-value = 0.000). Suggestions for health workers can provide health
promotion through videos about HIV/AIDS
