GAMBARAN KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI TERAPEUTIK PERAWAT

Medical errors and patient dissatisfaction with services result from inadequate therapeutic
communication. Description of the implementation of communication: 74% of nurses do not carry out
therapeutic communication with patients. Therefore, researchers want to describe the therapeutic
communication competence of nurses. This research method is descriptive study, where this research was
carried out at RST Bukittinggi in an internal inpatient room with a sample size of 16 nurses. The results
of this research show that the description of therapeutic communication skills is based on four indicators,
namely giving a clear message 87.5% in the medium category, listening 93.8% in the medium category,
providing responses 93.8% in the medium category and emotional handling 100% in the medium
category. The conclusion of this research is a description of nurses' therapeutic communication in the
medium category. So it is hoped that hospitals will continue to upgrade their knowledge about
therapeutic communication and supervision from superiors for this communication component which can
ultimately increase patient satisfaction
