Abstract

Circular mobility, one of which is commuting, refers to the movement of residents who do not live in the
destination area, and it has become more active with today's technological advances. Commuting, the routine
journey from home to work, has become an integral of modern life, especially in big cities. This study aims to
explain the relationship between commuting time and the health complaints of commuter workers. This article
is a Systematic Literature Review – meta-analysis using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic
Review and Meta-Analysis) with two databases, Science Direct and Google Scholar, covering the period from
2019 to 2024. The inclusion criteria encompass cross-sectional or longitudinal studies published in English.
The keywords used were “commute time, health complaints, workers, long commute”. We've carefully chosen
seven insightful articles for analysis. Three were classified as Q1, two as Q2, one as Q3, and one as Q4.
Extended commute times have the impact to physical and mental well-being of workers significantly,
according to analysis. Workers who spend more time commuting tend to experience various health complaints
like musculoskeletal disorders, sleep problems, lower back pain, and mental health problems such as
depression, anxiety, and fatigue. These findings highlight the importance of considering the health impacts of
commuting time in work arrangements and transportation policie
