Abstract

Discomfort in the third trimester will definitely be experienced by every pregnant woman, one of these
discomforts is back pain. This occurs due to anatomical changes in the mother's body. The results of a
preliminary study conducted at TPMB Fifi Yanti found that 45% of mothers experienced recurrent back
pain that could not be overcome by rest alone. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of
effleurage massage on third trimester pregnant women's back pain. This type of research is an experimental
design with a two-group pretest-posttest design, measurements are carried out before giving therapy
(pretest), and giving effeleurage massage therapy to pregnant women in the third trimester for 1 month,
namely once every week for 10-15 minutes. The sample was taken as many as 18 people using the purposive
sampling method. The results showed that there was an effect of effleurage massage on the back pain of
pregnant women in the third trimester with a p-value <0.05. It can be concluded that pregnant women who
experience back pain can be given effleurage massage.
