OPTIMALISASI EDUKASI PENCEGAHAN DEMAM BERDARAH DENGUE MELALUI MEDIA POSTER DI HUNIAN SEMENTARA PASCABENCANA NAGARI PALEMBAYAN KABUPATEN AGAM

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, particularly in post-disaster areas where environmental changes may increase the risk of disease transmission by supporting the breeding of Aedes spp. mosquitoes. This community service program aimed to improve community knowledge and awareness regarding DHF prevention among residents of temporary shelters (huntara). The program was conducted on May 23, 2026, at the temporary shelter area within the working area of Koto Alam Primary Health Center, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, involving 27 participants consisting of shelter residents, community health volunteers, and community leaders. The activities included health education, interactive discussions, distribution of educational posters, and field observation to introduce potential breeding sites of Aedes spp. mosquitoes. The educational materials covered DHF risk factors, mosquito breeding sites, and the implementation of the 3M Plus strategy. The program was well received, as reflected by the active participation of the participants throughout the educational sessions. The main output of the program was an educational poster entitled “Preventing DHF in Post-Disaster Settings,” which can be used as a sustainable health promotion medium to support community-based DHF prevention efforts in temporary shelter environments
