Patient safety is a crucial component in delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare services. Nurses, as the healthcare professionals who most frequently interact with patients, have a strategic role in preventing patient safety incidents, including adverse events, in hospitals. This community service activity was conducted at Padang Panjang Regional Hospital (RSUD Padang Panjang) to improve nurses’ knowledge and awareness of patient safety principles, goals, and procedures through structured socialization and educational activities. The implementation methods included lectures, interactive discussions, and simulations of patient safety procedures, followed by evaluations using pre- and post-tests to measure participants’ understanding. The results showed a significant increase in nurses’ knowledge of patient safety principles and implementation, with average pre-test and post-test scores of 73.6% and 96.2%, respectively, an improvement of 22.6% after the activity. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm and effectively identified potential risks in their respective work areas. This activity also encouraged the development of a shared commitment among nurses to strengthen the culture of patient safety within the hospital. Overall, this program successfully enhanced nurses’ competence in applying patient safety principles, reinforced the patient safety system at Padang Panjang Regional Hospital, and made a tangible contribution to improving healthcare quality and supporting hospital accreditation efforts.
