Parents of babies admitted to the NICU face a range of stressors, including fear of death, uncertainty, the expense of care, emotional changes, situations and despair between life and death, the inability to be by their loved one's side all the time, and unfamiliarity with the routines of the NICU environment. In order to boost the parents of hospitalized infants' self-confidence, self-efficacy, and satisfaction with nursing services at Bukittinggi City Regional General Hospital, this community service program (PKM) attempts to enhance the knowledge and abilities of NICU nurses in applying effective communication. Parents of patients admitted to Bukittinggi Regional General Hospital's Neonatal Care Unit (NICU) and NICU nurses started this community service project in October 2025. This Community Service activity will begin in September 2025 for NICU nurses and parents of patients admitted to the Neonatal Care Unit (NICU) at Bukittinggi Regional General Hospital. Using the observation method, nurses will be provided with information and education on effective communication approaches in management and the goals of the program. The results obtained from observations conducted after implementing effective communication with parents of babies in the NICU showed that family (parental) closeness to the baby and staff was well established. Of the 12 parents who received education using an effective communication approach, all stated they were very satisfied, self-efficacy increased, trust in staff increased, and communication was more open.
